The alcohol bottles imply that we are teenagers up to no good and that when there is alcohol involved things are likely to get stupid, messy and confusing.

The tictacs will be used to replicate drugs which is often related to teenagers and danger.

The lighter implies that we were smoking and teenage lifestyle and mysterious as this could just be the start of what they are doing.

The Decided Font

The font that we have decided for our opening sequence is the 'Epic Slash' font from DaFont. the reason being for this is because it has the feel of a rushed murderer feel. this is achieved by the straight edged font sides but at the end it is sloppy and cuts off giving the motion of a knife or slashing motion. Additionally it has a retro feel to it which contrasts with our modern day approach to the film however this can communicate to the audience that it still has the same typical horror aspects. The un-even font width and style gives the impression of blood however, it is simple so that not too much is taken away from the scene its self and is still easy to read.

This is also a similar style to Friday the 13th title as it has the same effect of a bloody, careless view of a killer.

Font Ideas

Our film genre is a horror and the opening sequence is key to intrigue audiences and make them want to continue to watch the film. Included in the opening is the title and production company. So the often link to the movie in some way which is why i have chosen the following fonts from DaFont.com

This particular font links to our film as it is in a hand written styled font in what appears to be paint or graffiti which links to our target audience of rebellious teenagers/ young adults.

 

\This font looks sketchy and edgy which gives it a creepy feel and once again links to horror as it looks rushed and blood like due to the drips and the sharpness of it can link to the murder weapon of a knife.

Finally, this font is slightly different from the others as it is bolder and slightly less edited with few markings on it which shows dereliction and an abandoned atmosphere which  is a plot in our film.

Additionally, these fonts all have different ways of creating a similar creepy, killer feel but in their own way. However looking towards more of a supernatural sub-genre I would say the first one as it is something that could suddenly appear on a wall in a deep red to remark blood or just a rushed note which entices the audience as they know now that the film is possibly fast paced and scary.

This video very briefly explains our plot of our opening, but in more detail, the group of teenagers are typically exploring/ up to no good and enter an abandoned complex. in the opening we see them having fun and messing around until towards the end of the opening where one of them goes missing through a paranormal experience. This will be done very suddenly to shock the audience which is a common occurrence in a horror and yet it still catches people off guard!

Our Film is obviously a horror and with horror films usually comes horror specialized production companies, for example you don't see Pixar at the start of the human centipede and vice versa, you dont expect to see dark castles logo or ghost house productions to appear at the start of a comedy. This is shown by the logo its self, the colors used, the actual image/ model and the name or title of it such as the one shown to the side.



Our logo therefore will be something frightening or in relation to a horror film and what better scene is a full moon at midnight with the howling of a wolf? Its a stereotypical horror setting and by having the sound effects with a blue flame coming off to give it a unique appearance will give it that extra dangerous touch!

The Brief

an opening sequence shows the time period, the setting, the situation such as a utopia or post apocalyptic world. it also tells us or gives us an insight into the characters.

Here it starts off by showing us the location of a boys room and then different camera angles and eye-line matches help keep the continuity that all of this is happening there and then without any interruptions. The music help show it is a joyful and fun atmosphere as well as all of the light colours, the POV shot on the chair when spinning and both the toy and andy's legs are swinging shows their relaationship



The opening sequence here i very long and relaxing as the long takes are filled with titles and animals which gives an indication to the genre and obviously its not going to be a scary film as when the snake is shown which might be deemed scary, there is no change in the music or anything and so we know to expect an adventure/ positive attitude to life film.



In the lord of the rings opening we are given the history and context which helps the audience understand the situation. We understand the power of the ring and those who survived the unforgiving battle and we know know some key characters from this. This is told to us by narration and we are bombarded with action which tells us that it is going to be an action packed adventerous film.
